Basic Coastal Cruising  -  ASA 103

ASA 103 is now offered as a standalone course at Barkers Island Marina in Superior, WI on a 34-foot Hunter 340, Endeavour
The 12-hour course consists of three, 4-hour sessions, including afloat and ashore instruction. 
Course cost: $495/person
($95 discount for any two people signing up together)


Two-Level Bareboat Chartering Certification

This is the first part of a two-part program. Students will learn the fundamentals of large boat cruising in preparation for skippering on larger bodies of water.

The second part, Bareboat Chartering, is taught on Lake Superior or in the Caribbean.  See the Bareboat Chartering page for the schedule.

Course Outline
Lesson 1: Boat Systems & Battery, Electrical Panel & Engine, Prop Walk & Docking.
Lesson 2: Sail Trim, Crew Overboard Procedures, Reefing, Heaving to, Anchoring
Lesson 3: Rules of the Road, Navigation,
Safety Systems, Review, Written Exam.

The Bayfield Two-Part Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering course can also be scheduled as a regular Bayfield course or as a Family and Friends course
.

Part 1-Basic Coastal Cruising and Part 2-Bareboat Chartering combined courses : (See Vacation Course Apostle Islands)

Prerequisite: Basic Keelboat (ASA 101).  Qualified sailors may test out of this course by passing the  Basic Keelboat written exam and demonstrating on-the-water proficiency. Cost varies.
