Refresher Courses

Northern Breezes Sailing School offers a variety of refresher courses to satisfy the needs of many sailors. Our offerings include Basic Small Boat, Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Charter refresher courses.   Our refresher courses are always taught by Northern Breezes instructors who are also certified by the American Sailing Association (ASA).

Our Basic Small Boat refresher course takes place on Medicine Lake and is three hours long. These lessons take place on our fleet of WindRider 17s and are great for reviewing how these boats work and how to sail small boats.

The Basic Keelboat Refresher course is great for sailors who have spent time away from the sport and want to get back into it or for someone who has already taken Basic Keelboat and wants a quick review before moving up to bigger boats.

This course meets for three or six hours and has a limit of three students per session.  This allows the instructor to work with you in a friendly, personal environment to address any questions you have and also allows for plenty of helm time for everyone.

Our Basic Coastal Cruising refresher course also takes place on Lake Minnetonka on our 28' O'Day, Adagio, or our 27' Pearson, Strad.  These courses are typically three or six hours long and can cover a variety of topics.  This is a perfect review to take before taking a Bareboat Charter course.

For our Bareboat Charter refresher course, we offer courses in Bayfield, WI. For this refresher, we work you into a Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter course to help you brush up on your sailing skills at this level.

Classes are cancelled and rescheduled during storm advisories.

Course fee:
Basic Small Boat: $125 for three hours, $225 for six hours. No tests.
Basic Keelboat: $225 for three hours. No tests.
Basic Coastal Cruising: $325 for three hours. No tests.
Bareboat Charter: $425 for half-day. No tests.
