British Virgin Islands, Caribbean, St. Martin Sailing
Northern Breezes Sailing School offers you an opportunity to do
many different learning adventures as well as sail just for fun
while participating at your chosen level. Earn the certification
of your choice in one week
in paradise. We offer everything from Basic Keelboat through
Advanced Coastal Cruising including "Big Catamaran" Cruising
Multihull. We also offer
adventures which require no sailing experience, but welcome your
participation, such as our fun and adventurous flotillas. We even have a Sail & Dive option. You can sail
as individuals, couples or as a family in which you have the
whole boat! All of this in the world's most perfect winter
cruising grounds - the British Virgin Islands.
As you learn and practice navigation, docking, anchoring and
skippering skills we will stop in such places as The Baths to
explore a beach of house-size boulders like none you've seen
anywhere else; snorkel or dive the fabulous Wreck of the Rhone
featured in the movie, The Deep; visit snorkel spots such as The
Caves of Norman Island, setting for Robert Louis Stevenson’s
Treasure Island. We will sail amongst giant sea turtles and
dolphins, and enjoy idyllic palm-fringed beaches from the island
of Jost Van Dyke to the tiny, perfect white sand islands of
Sandy Cay and Green Cay.
You will return home with a tan, fantastic photos, lifelong
memories, and bareboat charter skipper certification so that
your next trip to the islands can be as skipper of your own
Basic Keelboat/Basic Coastal
Basic Keelboat (101), Basic Cruising (103) and Bareboat Charter (104) are taught on
our 40'-45' cruising auxiliary sailboats as a liveaboard
course. Course fee includes course materials - ASA textbooks, class
notes and ASA Certifications.
Advanced Coastal Cruising participants arrive in the Caribbean on the
first day which is a travel day.
Sleep aboard your yacht on the first night! Navigational
assignments will have been assigned in advance. Precise
itinerary is somewhat weather dependent.
This is an advanced cruising course for
sailors with cruising experience. Graduates are certified to act as
skipper and crew of a 30-50 foot multihull sailboat by day in
coastal waters. Students will learn all aspects of
skippering a cruising catamaran.
Most skippers are recent graduates who like the idea of having an
experienced sailing instructor on a nearby boat. Often a quick
review of anchoring or reefing techniques, the navigation for the
day and boat systems is most of our involvement. Chartering a
flotilla boat as skipper with your own crew is less expensive
than chartering independent of the flotilla because of our
special arrangements with the charter company.
Sail & Dive
us for our sail and dive option. You dive off our big, beautiful
catamaran! Forget about the
big dive-boat crowds, you are with a small group of divers. When
you're done diving . . . sail and enjoy this beautiful boat and
all the unique places it can take you.
