Tim Black

I am a lifelong recreational sailor who enjoys every minute on the water. Teaching sailing classes for Northern Breezes Sailing School is an especially satisfying experience. The active sailing community has allowed me to expand my experiences to skipper, race crew, and cruise in many beautiful sailing venues.

I currently cruise, teach and entertain on an Aquarius 23 keelboat on White Bear Lake. I skipper my E-scow in races on Bald Eagle Lake and I helm the A-scow "Dumbledore," which races out of the White Bear Yacht Club.  My wife Peggy and I have had the great opportunity to charter and crew in many wonderful cruising grounds. We have trailered our keelboat to the Florida Keys, Door County, Wisconsin, Lakes Pepin and Superior, and many inland lakes. The E-scow experience includes regional regattas and several trips to Lake of the Woods International Sailing Association summer regatta. Charter destinations to the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, the British Virgin Islands, the California Coast and Grenada have provided many memorable vacations. We spent five years as regular crew on a Voyage 380 catamaran that cruised in the Mediterranean including Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, the Ionian Islands of Greece and Malta. The big cat also spent some time in the Caribbean and we made stops in the BVI, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and down-island to Antigua, St Bart’s, Guadalupe and St Lucia.

Sailing is a big part of my life and the best part is spending quality time on the water with the people I have met along the way.
