A special coating is applied to high quality optical glass to allow the user to see through this mirror, yet still pick up images as faint as low-light stars.

The Jupiter is Tamaya's full sized ``best value" sextant. It has many of the features of more expensive sextants. The mirrors are large; a 57x42mm index and a 57mm diameter horizon. The inclined handle provides a natural and comfortable grip.
