Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week_Early Entry Deadline is Sunday
BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. – With the deadline looming for the 10% early entry discount (Sunday, March 31), Storm Trysail Club’s Block Island Race Week has already seen 160 registrants for its 25th Anniversary edition. The biennial event, scheduled from Sunday to Friday, June 23-28, is one of the last true race weeks in America with a full five days of racing (Monday through Friday) and includes all of the pleasures of racing on Block Island Sound and discovering the charms of Block Island.
“It is evident by the large numbers of registrants that this year is going to be one of epic proportions,” said Event Chair Lee Reichart. “We just want to make sure that everyone is aware that this Sunday is the final day to sign up for the discount.”
The five-day event welcomes entrants in IRC, HPR, PHRF and one-design divisions and consists of four days of around-the-buoys racing and one day devoted to the 18.2 nautical mile Around the Island Race. The event will also serve to determine nine championship titles: the IRC North American Championship; HPR (High Performance Rule) North American Championship; US Sailing’s PHRF East Coast Championship; J/29 East Coast Championship; J/80 North American Championship; J/105 East Coast Championship; J/109 East Coast Championship; Swan 42 New England Championship; and the Beneteau 36.7 Northeast Championship.

Racing headquarters for the Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week 2013 will be located at The Oar Restaurant, while evening festivities and award ceremonies will be held next door in the event tent.
A 10% early entry discount applies for all classes except those in the Green Fleet, which includes Classics, Double Handers, Cruising, Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker classes and Gunboat catamarans and other multihulls. For the Green Fleet, which will be racing on Navigator-style courses, event organizers have offered a 50% discount.
