Torqeedo Wins Fourth Pittman Innovation Award

Torqeedo, global leader in electric marine propulsion, has been honored with a fourth SAIL Magazine Pittman Innovation Award for its groundbreaking Cruise Fixed Pod system. In 2016, the company was recognized for its Deep Blue Hybrid system. It also won in 2012 for its Cruise 2.0/4.0 and in 2007 for its Travel 801 outboard.

Working with Hanse Yachts and rudder builder Jefa Marine, Torqeedo adapted its 4 kW/8 hp equivalent Cruise 4.0 FP with folding propeller to allow its integration into the foil's trailing edge on the new Hanse 315 e-motion. Weighing 200 lbs. less than a comparable diesel engine, the Rudder Drive is odorless and virtually silent. It offers regenerative power while under sail. It delivers unmatched maneuverability due to the 100 degrees of rudder travel, eliminating the need for bow or stern thrusters. The Cruise FP system recently won the coveted DAME Design Award at METS.
