Award-Winning Windlasses Offer Economy And Durability
Marine equipment can be both tough and beautiful. Quick USA's new Prince series of vertical windlasses feature anodized aluminum, stainless steel and composite components, as well as IP-rated motors to stand up to the elements. Yet the rugged Prince series also won its category at the recent Nautical Design Awards in Milan, where the jury panel included Giorgio Armani and Walter De Silva.
Models in the Prince series include the DP1, DP2 and DP3 with motors ranging from 300-1,500 watts to serve boats from 16-49'. Each features a rugged anodized aluminum gearbox with an AISI 316 stainless steel base, ensuring durability and corrosion-free good looks. The motor is protected by a waterproof casing to endure wet chain lockers.
Standard features include a manual free-fall system and built-in chain counter. Each of the DP models is available with or without a drum to suit the user's needs.
Prince windlasses are purposely designed with separate components to simplify maintenance or replacement of worn elements. A removable stamped steel inspection cover not only allows easy access to working parts, but enables users to feed rope onto the deck when needed, rather than always forcing it into the locker. The breakaway plastic pressurelever is designed to detach if a jam occurs, unlike molded-in metal levers that can damage the entire windlass.
The Prince DP1 models are designed for boats from 16-30', and offer maximum working loads from 264-440 lbs. with maximum chain speeds of 82-86 ft./min. They fit a 6 mm and 1/4" gypsy.
For boats 16-43' long, Quick's DP2 models have maximum working loads from 264-925 lbs., with maximum chain speeds of 74-102 ft./min. This range offers configurations for a 6 mm, 1/4", 8 mm and 5/16" gypsy.
Quick's DP3 model windlasses are intended for boats 23-49', and offer maximum working loads of 551-1,036 lbs. with maximum chain speeds of 89-121 ft./min. They are available with an 8 mm, 5/16", 10 mm or 3/8" gypsy.
At the prestigious Nautical Design Awards, the Prince series won in the Technology and Accessories category. This annual competition is hosted by Yacht & Sail and the Association for Industrial Design based in Italy, with categories for boats and equipment. It recognizes companies who excel at creating products that combine functionality, economy and superior design.
Suggested retail prices for the Prince series windlasses start at approximately $1,250 including the dual direction solenoid unit. Quick USA offers a wide range of marine products, including windlasses, capstans, thrusters, battery chargers, water heaters, remote controls, electrical accessories and navigation and anchor lights. Designed and manufactured in Italy, Quick products are available worldwide.
