Uber Alles Wins The Hook Sabotage Takes Line Honors

The 2001 Hook Race started Saturday July 14th in fairly light air. The 197-mile trek up the Western Shore of Lake Michigan, through Death Door and down into Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay provided the racers with a variety of wind conditions. With the majority of the fleet experiencing an unforcasted Northeaster thoughts of finishing early were high on everyone's mind. For all but the race leaders who went through "The Door" early Sunday evening the wind went light.

Sabotage from the South Shore Yacht Club was the first boat across the line with Fiddler, Waukegan Yacht Club and Jazz, South Shore Yacht Club right behind. Sabotage's elapsed time was 33:39:57. Uber Alles from the Racine Yacht Club was took Overall Honors with a corrected time of 28:37:57.

Division 4: Frolic-n-Cyn
Division 5: Classy Lady

A total of 63 boats entered representing Yacht Clubs as far away as Michigan participated in the 2001 HOOK Race.

With a half-day to rest, the sailors and their families enjoyed a wonderful evening of good camaraderie and food.
Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club once again out did themselves not only with great food and drink but also with hospitality.
