Scanstrut Launches “Fit and Forget” Waterproof Junction Box Range

With the sailing season nearly upon us, Scanstrut Ltd,  international leader in the design and manufacture of installation solutions for marine electronics, has the perfect sailing accessory for anyone planning boat maintenance this spring, with the launch of their new “fit and forget” Junction Box range.

Complementing their award-winning range of original and innovative Deck Seals, the Junction Box range provides secure, watertight connections for marine electrical cables onboard any boat.

The range features two models: a ‘Standard’ version featuring 5 screw-down terminals and a ‘Deluxe’ version including 10 fast-fit terminals which offer even quicker installation.  Both are manufactured from a glass reinforced plastic and provide capacity for up to 8 cables to enter the box.

It is crucial for electronic equipment to remain in optimum working condition whilst at sea and waterproofing is vital for any Junction Box. Scanstrut has created Junction Boxes that you can ‘fit and forget’. Confirmation of this comes via successful independent testing to, and comfortably exceeding, stringent international IP waterproof rating tests. 

Both boxes are rated at IP66 as standard, guaranteeing protection against water ingress and ensuring peace of mind for owners and installers alike.  For use in areas where there is a higher risk of severe exposure to water ingress, an upgrade Cable Seal pack is available. This kit fits to either box and increases the IP rating of the whole installation to IP67. This level of waterproofing is a unique feature of the Scanstrut marine junction boxes.

Cables are quickly routed into the box through an IP66 elastomeric membrane. The IP67 cable seals screw into the boxes at the cable entrance points. The IP67 seals can accept cables from 4mm - 12mm Ø [0.15” – 0.48”].

The boxes have provision to be fitted directly to the required mounting surface. Also included in the pack is a surface mounting bracket that allows removal of the box for inspection if necessary.  All fixings are included.
