Pettit Paints Shine in Head-to-Head Testing

The editors of Practical Sailor magazines recently named Pettit Marine Paint products among the top performers in their annual marine paint comparison tests.

In an article that appears in the March 2001 issue of both publications, Pettit Trinidad SR and Pettit ACP Ultima were placed in the best-performing category among anti-fouling bottom paints. Trinidad SR was also noted to have performed better than any other bottom paint currently available on the US market - for the second year in a row.

In a related article assessing marine varnishes, Pettit Captain’s Varnish was one of three products that received a “best” rating, outperforming more than a dozen other competing varnishes.

Practical Sailor is noted for its strict, unbiased product assessments, so we’re proud to see that we continue to do so well in their tests,” said John Ludgate, Pettit vice president of sales and marketing. “We try to offer products that exceed our customers expectations.”

Pettit Marine Paints offers a broad line of anti-fouling bottom paints, topside paints, marine varnishes and coatings. Phone: 800-221-4446.

FSI has developed a remarkably simple device with plenty of uses for cruisers and racers alike - the Versatie Line & Gear Organizer. It is one of the most versatile and secure ways of keepin

The Versatie organizer attaches to nearly anything on a boat or trailer. It holds gear neatly and tightly wherever needed, and is always ready for use.

It consists of two quick-release buckles that form two loops on a single length of strap. One loop secures the gear and the other is for carrying or attaching the gear where needed. Either loop can be tightened to size, and they release easily with a downward pull on the strap. A holding fastener is also provided to hold the Versatie strap on a bulkhead, cabin top, dockbox or other flat surface.

The Versatie easily secures sheets, halyards, dock lines, race gear, power cords, boat hooks, loose tackle, fishing gear and hoses. It holds fendrs to rails, boat lines to pulpits, life jackets to cabin tops, boat hooks to life lines and even fishing poles and gear bags to inflatable boats.

The durable, non-fraying strap is made of a plastic bonded webbing and boasts a tear strength of 700 pounds. Both the strap and the buckles are waterproof and UV-resistant. Newest Generation of Flashlights Deliver Superior Illumination

LED-Lite announces the introduction of the most innovative line of flashlights for recreational and professional boaters - the Lightwave 2000 LED flashlights. Four energy-efficient super-bright Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) allow the Lightwave 2000 to continuously illuminate up to 500 hours on a single set of AA batteries.

The Lightwave 2000 Flashlights pioneer in the following technological innovations:

1) The new generation of “super-bright” LEDs are extremely efficient, allowing batteries to last up to 125 times longer than traditional flashlights. A standard flashlight requires more than 250 batteries over the same time period that the Lightwave 2000 flashlight would use only three.

2) LEDs have a life expectancy of over 100,000 hours and have no glass or filament to break, making them nearly indestructible.

3) The super-bright white LEDs generate a true white light that illuminates like daylight. They produce a wide viewing angle so you can see more at one time while minimizing harsh reflection, shadow and glare.

4) Light emitted from the green, red and blue LEDs preserve night vision. Unlike standard flashlights, these versions of the Lightwave 2000 do not require filters that are easily lost or broken.

5) The beam pattern of the Lightwave 2000 is the industry standard for even light diffusion. Unlike standard flashlights that are plagued by dark spots, the Lightwave 2000 will allow your eyes to adjust to the dark and see more with the natural, ambient light.

The Lightwave 2000 flashlights are the newest generation of navigational flashlights. The white LED model is the best flashlight nearly any activity where a true white light is needed. The color LED models are great for preserving night vision, and are especially recommended for chart reading.

The Lightwave 2000 flashlight will last for years even in the most challenging environments. They are a rugged, technologically advanced and cost-effective alternative to the traditional, delicate incandescent flashlights commonly used today.
