Spring is soon arriving, the days are getting longer. Before you know it we'll have daylight savings time again and the Spring/Summer racing and cruising season will be in full swing. It's time again for the Northern Breezes' Crew List.
Don't miss out on the fun; fill out a crew form and mail it ASAP. According to everyone we've talked to, the crew list works just about any way you want it to. You can find crew, a boat looking for crew, romance.
Here's how the crew list works. Submit your application quickly. We continuously update our web site with the incoming data. Then we compile all the data into some sort of semi-logical order and publish it in the May issue. We also publish on-line throughout the year!
Be sure to save your May issue, or at least a copy of the list. You may be looking for someone to race with you later on and we only print the list once.
The crew list is broken into four categories: skippers looking for crew to cruise, skippers looking for crew to race, crew wanting to cruise, and crew wanting to race. All you do is pick the category(ies) you're interested in, fill out the appropriate information and mail it to us by the deadline. If you're a crew who wants to both race and cruise, fill out both forms. Likewise, if you're a skipper who's looking for crew for racing and cruising.
When filling out the forms, be as honest as you can. Enthusiastic beginners are almost always welcome and most skippers enjoy teaching even experienced sailors new tricks. Also, if you check that you're willing to help out with maintenance, be prepared to do more than carry the trash to the dumpster or tidy up the galley. Keeping a boat clean is part of going sailing. Maintenance means putting on your grubbiest clothes and spending some hours with a paint brush or sandpaper in hand. It's dirty work, but can also be part of the fun.
One final word of warning...there's a reason we ask you to sign your listing - when you fill out the form, sign it, and we print it, our responsibility ends. We've always found that 99.9% of the sailors we've met are great people, but that isn't a guarantee. Use a little common sense before you sail off into the sunset.
P.S. Please list only one phone number with your area code - we only have room for one in the listing.
IMPORTANT: If you signed up for the last crew list - you must sign up again for this list.
We are not reprinting last year's names!!!
